Cava and champagne are sparkling wines, produced by the method of second fermentation in the bottle, and produced in a given region, that mean their names are protected.
Champagne is the name for France and for Spain Cava.
The French region of Champagne is located 150 km northeast of Paris in the zone of Reims in six different subzones.
Cava is produced in various Spanish areas: in 157 municipalities located in the region of Penedès Catalonia and the Valencia region.
The method of making these sparkling wines are similar, although more demanding for making champagnes.
